We have seen a fair few fruit-styled games in the VR industry already. While Fruit Ninja VR will always remain a very popular game in this regard, Shooty Fruity certainly comes close. The game is currently available for PlayStation VR and comes with a price tag of $19.99. Who knew shooting fruit in VR would be so much fun? It might not help with your vitamin D deficiency, though.

Shooty Fruity is Savagely fun

While it is important for everyone to eat their daily dose of fruit, sometimes it just feels better to blow up oranges, apples, and even raspberries. As cruel as it may sound, Shooty Fruity turns it into a wave shooter game for the PlayStation VR. Although this genre has been oversaturated for some time now, it is evident games like these may bring a wind of fresh air to this particular type.As the name suggests, it is your job to shoot fruit with various.

More specifically, it is one of the VR games which show why the PlayStation Move controllers are such a viable addition to the ecosystem. While you start out as a clerk in a supermarket, the job quickly takes on a very different meaning. Scanning groceries are one thing, but you have to pay attention to the types of fruit out to kill you. Surprisingly, there are quite a few of those in this supermarket, which means it might be best not to shop there in real life. Scanning more items as part of your day job increases your weapon capacity and the associated fun to be had blasting all kinds of healthy fruits to smithereens.

As one would expect from a wave shooter, having a third arm with an extra Move controller would certainly be handy at times. Shooty Fruity is incredibly fun and engaging, yet it is also overwhelming at times. That is a good thing, mind you. In between “stages”, you can spend cash on new weapons, which are purchased from a vending machine. New weapons can be taken to a shooting range, which can only be considered to be a good thing.Testing your new weapons on some unsuspecting fruit is a lot more fun than it should be, in theory.

In the end, there is nothing about Shooty Fruity one could dislike. It’s a visually pleasing game, the gameplay is fluid, and there is a good challenge to be had. Although the game may not seem like it, rest assured there is plenty of fun to be had while you maddening wave your arms around in order to stay alive. For the price, you get a lot more content and fun than one would originally assume, but we can only applaud the developers for that feat.
