It almost feels as if virtual reality porn has suddenly become a hot topic. Researchers have now voiced their concern over how VR porn going mainstream can become a very real problem. More specifically, they are concerned a whole generation of people will feel less inclined to leave the comfort of their own home altogether. It is evident virtual reality technology certainly bears that risk, but it’s not something unique to adult content either.
Mainstream VR Usage Bears its Risks
As is usually the case when immersive technology starts to gain traction, one needs to examine the potential repercussions. Virtual reality grows a long list of technologies which are bound to make people socially inept sooner or later. The big difference is how this technology may effectively render it unnecessary to physically leave your home. That is a worrisome development, and it will ultimately lead to severe cases of avaddiction as well. However, it remains to be seen if things will effectively head in that direction or not.
According to new research, VR porn may very well be one of the catalysts driving that undesirable change. That seems a bit far-fetched, but the researchers are concerned about the impact of this content on people’s psyche. Being able to watch adult content in an immersive environment will make it unnecessary for people to use other devices for this specific purpose. In a way, that wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing either, although one never knows what the future will bring. The long-term consequences are something to be more concerned about, though.
More specifically, Robert Weiss feels VR porn will eventually lead to fewer people leaving their home. It has the potential to change an entire generation, although not necessarily in a good way. Weiss is convinced people will resort to virtual sex rather than go on a date, which is somewhat worrisome. Additionally, people will become inept at forging relationships and connecting with other human beings. A rather bleak outlook, but one shouldn’t dismiss the possibilities either.
Moreover, Weiss is extremely concerned about the impact VR camming will have on our society. When adult models perform specific actions on demand in an immersive environment, it is impossible to gauge the potential consequences.For now, there is no substantial evidence to back up such wild claims, though. One can only guesstimate as to what the future may bring, but no one knows for sure if there is anything to worry about in the first place
