Millennials are the primary group of users for virtual reality technology. It is evident this demographic is keen on VR, although the reason why may surprise a lot of people. In fact, a new study by Penn Schoen Berland shows most Millennials flock to VR for smart office purposes. An intriguing result, especially given the lack of VR-capable offerings in this regard.

Millennials Have High Hopes for VR

It is quite interesting to see how Millennials want to see their office space evolve. More specifically, the “old school technology” is on the way out at an accelerating pace. Anything that is not used at home is of no interest to this demographic as of right now. In fact, it is likely a lot of Millennials will quit their job if they are forced to work with outdated technology on a regular basis.

Some people may consider that to be egocentric, but this demographic is wired very differently. They want everything to be “Smart” and “interactive” first and foremost. So much even that access to high tech will influence their job hunt moving forward. A lot of workplaces have not seen any “smart” updates for quite some time now. With VR technology, that situation may change sooner rather than later.

There are other advantages to virtual reality technology rather than shutting oneself off from the world. Virtual reality allows for better training opportunities in many different ways. Being able to train from anywhere and on one’s own time schedule is something a lot of Millennials appreciate. Providing a realistic experience – or something close to it – is a top priority for this demographic.

Furthermore, Millennials feel VR technology will improve collaboration and virtual sharing of tasks and feedback. It is evident these virtual spaces will open up a lot of new opportunities along the way. An interactive approach to working in a team in real-time can certainly benefit a lot of businesses. With remote workers becoming more common, no one has to be left out when using VR either.
