There seems to be an interesting correlation between VR and thrill rides. For some reason, the consumers enjoy taking VR roller coaster rides, even though it is far from a mainstream experience. The LEGOLAND Florida Resort is the latest theme park to combine VR with roller coasters, yet it will be interesting to see how things play out.
LEGOLAND Florida and VR
It is always interesting to see how different entities approach the concept of VR technology. For some people, this is a logical evolution of the technology, whereas others are not too certain if this will make a lasting impact whatsoever. When it comes to combining VR technology with roller coasters, there appears to be an interesting future ahead as of right now.
More specifically, it seems even entities such as the LEGOLAND Florida Resort is confident VR thrill ride are here to stay. Guests are put in the center of an action-packed road rally where they are seemingly racing against several LEGO Minifigure competitors. It is important to note this is not a completely virtual ride, but one that takes place on an actual roller coaster while wearing VR headsets.It is completely optional to do so, however.
For those users who wear the VR headset, they will see things from a race driver perspective. The action is taking place in every direction in an environment where everything is made of LEGO bricks. A very intriguing approach, as it shows the company has put a lot of effort into this venture as we speak. Whether or not it will be successful, is a different matter altogether.
Known as the Great LEGO Race, it is the first VR roller coaster experience designed for both children and adult within the LEGO environment. Whether or not this indicates we will see further initiatives like these in a LEGO setting, remains to be determined. It is certainly an appealing prospect that may effectively come to other LEGOLAND resorts in the future.
