Apple has not been overly active on the VR and AR front just yet. Leave it up to the technology giant to make some form of impact in this regard. Tim Cook is a big fan of augmented reality, and it seems virtual reality is on his radar as well. The headset being developed by the company will allegedly support both technologies.
What is Apple Planning This Time?
It is good to see technology giants focus on virtual and augmented reality. Although it remained unclear what Apple was planning to do in this regard, but some more details have surfaced. It seems the company is building a unit capable of running both VR and AR at the same time. While that is not necessarily a unique feat, it is something to behold when Apple is involved.
Specifics regarding this headset are scarce to come by. Some so claim there will be an 8K display for each eye embedded, which is not necessarily impossible. It doesn’t seem all that feasible either, judging by the competition’s specs. Even so, Apple is not planning to release their T288 headset prior to 2020, and a lot can happen.
With Apple venturing into the mix of AR and VR, an interesting trend is created. Considering how the company has focused its attention on iPhone and iPad AR capabilities, the leap to a proper headset doesn’t appear all that strange. Even so, it is still a massive commitment in terms of money, research, and development,
For the time being, we will see how this plays out. Apple may be the company to take both VR and AR into the mainstream. people love the products built by this company, especially if they can focus on design and functionality over a steep price tag and no real content. Only time will tell whether or not this will effectively become a reality.
