There has been a growing demand for haptic feedback among VR and AR enthusiasts alike. Teslasuit may very well become the first commercialized product in this regard, as it is a full-body haptic smart wearable. How this will affect both VR and AR industries, remains unclear, but it will undoubtedly introduce a lot of new opportunities.

Teslasuit is a Major Breakthrough

Haptic feedback will give VR and AR enthusiasts a more immersive sensation at all times. Bringing such technology to market is not easy, primarily because it is a rather expensive venture at this time. This is especially true when it comes to full-body haptic feedback, a concept which has not been successfully explored by any manufacturer in recent years. It is very difficult to get it right and make it affordable, after all.

The Teslasuit offers a welcome change of pace in this regard. It is designed to offer haptic feedback throughout one’s whole body. Additionally, it offers motion capture and climate control, both of which are rather intriguing features. Perhaps even more important is how this unit is completely wire-free, something that will be of great relief to virtual reality enthusiasts.

Under the hood, the Teslasuit uses Electric Muscle Stimulation. It causes muscle contractions through an external electrical pulse. For the wearer, it will physically make their muscles contract. It is also part of the process of providing haptic feedback when interacting with virtual objects, either through touch, holding, or by grabbing on to things.

Bringing this technology to consumers won’t happen soon. Teslasuit wants to collaborate with game developers to incorporate proper haptic feedback into their games. It is compatible with Unreal and Unity3D video game engines, and offers the necessary tools for developers to integrate support as painlessly as possible. When that will happen exactly, remains to be seen. No price tag has been announced for the unit at this time.
