Getting more people excited about virtual reality technology remains an ongoing process. A new grant from the Middletown Community Foundation helps move things along in this regard. All local City schools can benefit from this grant, which is created to accelerate the use of AR and VR technology.
Middletown Schools Prepare for Virtual Reality
It is good to see schools and students gain more exposure to innovative technologies. Despite VR and AR still being in the early stages of development, their potential cannot be ignored. The Middletown Community Foundation acknowledges bringing virtual and augmented reality to local schools is an option worth exploring. This will be achieved through a $12,224 grant, which goes toward AR and VR devices for the new course focusing on both technologies.
Because of this grant, students will be given the chance to engage with both virtual and augmented reality. It also allows them to learn more about these technologies and how the ecosystems work individually. Implementing this modern learning strategy is a big part of Middletown City School’s future approach to educational efforts.
MCSD Technology and Digital Coordinator Melissa Prohaska adds:
“The Virtual Reality devices will be used in a variety of ways, a couple of which are to help the Middletown students experience places and things they would otherwise never get to experience, such as visiting the Louvre Museum in Paris or analyzing the human heart in 3D. The VR technology will allow the high school students to learn how to code the experiences.”
It is not the first time schools begin paying attention to virtual and augmented reality. More efforts like these are needed to ensure these technologies can continue to gain more traction as time progresses. Moreover, these efforts will also allow for new use cases to be discovered by the demographic most prone to using VR technology as a whole.
