Amusements parks have shown a tendency to explore options in the virtual reality space. Making ride seven more immersive and engaging is always an option worth exploring. It now seems Badger Sports Park in Appleton is taking a similar approach. Their new VR attraction takes gaming to a whole new level and tries to cater to players of all ages.
The Badger Sports Park VR Overhaul
It is not easy nor cheap for park owners to invest in new technologies. Although such investments are needed to remain competitive first and foremost, it is still a daunting task. In the case of Badger Sports Park, a $100,000 investment has been made to explore new options in the VR industry. Their latest attraction comes in the form of Holgate Virtual Reality Arena, which opened its doors last week.
The main purpose of this new offering is to provide VR gaming options to both kids and adults. Players are paired in foursomes where they take on one another in competitive gameplay. Players can access this new location without reservation, and the overall pricing is fair a swell. Users will pay $8 for five minutes of gameplay, or $25 for four gaming sessions. It is very affordable, and still significantly cheaper than buying a VR headset at home. This is especially true if multiple headsets need to be purchased.
This is another example of how park owners need to keep innovating at all times. Although it remains to be seen whether or not this investment will pay off, the low price should undoubtedly attract some attention. By catering to both kids and adults, Badger Sports Park is also trying to attract a wide range of potential clients. With four players pairing up at any given time, a fun and engaging competitive session can be enjoyed by everyone.
It also becomes rather apparent this move to virtual reality is not something everyone can pursue either. A $100,000 price tag is something to carefully consider, especially given the average consumer’s dismay for VR technology in general. Even though the low price could make it an affordable option for families and birthday parties, it will take a while until such a massive upfront investment pays itself back.
