Enthusiasts passionate about virtual reality are already looking forward to the next holiday season. That is not entirely surprising, as that time of the year usually introduces some new gadgets and gizmos. If Microsoft is believed, this year’s holiday season will be more than exciting for the VR industry. Although the company is mainly hinting at their own line of products, it could prove to be quite an interesting time of the year for sure.

What to Look Forward to Later This Year

One of the trends that have become rather obvious is how we will see an influx of new VR headsets later this year It is believed a lot of major electronics companies will unveil their products and make them available for mass consumption in the coming months. Additionally, there may be some new controllers to see the light of day as well. All of this is what one would expect from a  holiday season, after all.

Remaining on the topic of hardware, the holiday season may introduce some interesting VR bundles for consumers to enjoy. Buying a headset, controllers, and who knows what other peripherals on their own can become quite costly. It is safe to say there will be some bundle deals to take advantage of this year as well. Do not be mistaken in thinking there will be massive discounts per se, though. Then again, it could be an interesting time of year to pick up a slight bargain.

On the software side of things, it is a bit unclear what we can expect. Microsoft hints at quite a bit of Windows Mixed Reality content to come to market in the coming months. That will be quite interesting to see, considering the Windows Mixed Reality platform leans heavily toward virtual reality content right now. For now, the company has unveiled little details, although we will know more once the E3 conference takes place.

It is safe to say the need for more VR content is bigger than ever before. Although the number of apps and games continues to increase, other types of content are still hard to come by. Moreover, there could – or perhaps, should – be a larger focus on boosting productivity while immersing oneself in virtual reality. The market is still in the early stages, though, and this upcoming holiday season could introduce some exciting projects for sure.
