It is nice to see some VR gaming and app bundles come to market these days. IndieGala is running an official VR bundle for the eighth time, although it appears the number of sales is still quite low at the time of writing. Anyone willing to spend around $3.5 will gain access to a total of 11 VR games and applications, which is quite a good deal. All of these games are indie games though, but that doesn’t mean they are a bad combination by any means.
IndieGala VR VIII Bundle Is Quite Appealing
Getting more people interested in virtual reality is not an easy task by any means. Making the available content far more affordable is one way to go about things, though. IndieGala has launched seven different virtual reality bundles to date, and their eighth iteration is available for purchase right now. For the price of $3.74, a total of eleven different VR games can be yours. Even if users only play all of these games just once, that is still a pretty solid deal, all things considered.
Among the games in this particular bundle are The Ruins, Flock, Audio Arena, and Swing Star. All of these games are created by indie developers, which means they will not be top-notch productions by any means. However, indie games have come a very long way as of late. In fact, some indie games are on par- or better than – AAA games these days. All of the games in this particular VR bundle can be activated on Steam, which is quite good to see.
Unfortunately, it appears there is not much interest in these amazing game bundles whatsoever. According to the statistics, only 52 bundles have been sold so far. That is a bit disappointing, even though everyone knows virtual reality is still a niche market. Then again, a lot of people complain about the lack of content, thus picking up these even 11 games would alleviate most of these concerns.
In the end, it is good to see indie developers want to help the VR ecosystem grow as much as the rest of us. Making their games available at a discount is a great way to achieve that goal. Even if only fifty people play them, it is a good marketing stunt regardless. Over time, bundles like these will undoubtedly become more popular. Virtual reality is still in the early stages of development, and it is hard to see where things may be headed next.
