Fans of the Breaking Bad series will be pleased to hear there will be a VR spinoff. To be more specific, PlayStation VR users will receive a Breaking Bad VR experience very soon. This will not be a traditional game by any means, though. Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan feels now is a good time to experiment with VR technology related to this iconic show.

Breaking Bad is Coming to PlayStation VR

A lot of users complain about the lack of content in the virtual reality ecosystem. Vince Gilligan, creator of the Breaking Bad series, agrees with this statement to a certain degree. He is experimenting with VR technology to create a non-game experience based on this TV show. It is hard to come by specific details right now, though. No one knows when, if, and in what form this experience will be released. We do know it will not come out in 2017, though.

Playing around with VR as a content creator is quite an interesting experience. It also shows this technology is more than capable of creating immersive experiences. While there is a glaring lack of content, projects like these will slowly alleviate those concerns. Do keep in mind production tools for live-action 360-degree video are still rudimentary right now. It seems likely the Breaking Bad experience will use computer graphics and video game artists.

It is evident Sony Interactive Entertainment wants to go big on virtual reality over the coming years. The company is exploring many different ways to introduce new and engaging VR content to the masses. Video games are only a part of the Sony ecosystem these days. Their initial TV show, called powers, was somewhat of a success, despite being canceled in 2016.

It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the Breaking Bad VR experience. With no real details to go by, we can only speculate as to what will happen. Rest assured it will not be a traditional game but it won’t be another season of the TV show either. Attaching such a big name to a VR project may help put the technology on the global map, though. Virtual reality is here to stay, and with some better content available, mass adoption is only a few years away.
