Bringing more content to the PlayStation VR industry has proven to be an interesting task. While we see a lot of new games, there are very few compatible applications, experiences, and ways to watch other content in VR. According to various adult industry insiders, the PS VR direly needs support for VR porn. A very interesting statement, although it makes sense in an odd way.
PlayStation VR and Adult Content
Most people will readily agree the PlayStation VR is one of the more appealing virtual reality platforms as of right now. That situation may come to change in the future, but it looks pretty decent as of right now. One thing noticeably absent from the PlayStation VR is how there is no convenient way to access VR adult content. Although that is not necessarily a big problem, ignoring that particular industry may not be the best idea either.
According to several industry experts, the PlayStation VR will need VR porn to survive and succeed. For a headset which has existed since back in 2016, one would expect this adult content support to exist already. Right now, that is not the case. There are workarounds available to watch VR porn through the PlayStation VR as of right now. However, there is no “official” way of doing so because Sony will not allow it, at least for now.
Why that is the case exactly, is a difficult question to answer. Renowned adult industry star Brett Rossi feels Sony should let adult players have adult experiences if any variety without stigmatizing this business model even further. At the same time, Sony has no immediate plans to change its stance on VR porn, although it seems plausible to assume the company is keeping all cards on the table for the time being.
It is true VR porn provides a very different experience from what people are used to watching. Unfortunately, the number of platforms actively allowing this type of content to be shown remains incredibly limited, which has been a drawback for quite some time now. If the PlayStation VR can come to terms with this type of content, things will get very interesting moving forward. A lot of people buy these VR headsets just to watch adult content, rather than playing games.
