Hardly anyone will be surprised to learn there is one industry thriving thanks to virtual reality. The adult entertainment sector sees a significant influx of users every single day. To be more specific, the PornHub platform receives around 50,000 VR views every single day. A staggering amount, although it was to be expected the adult industry would reap the rewards from consumer-grade VR headsets.
Porn And Virtual Reality Mix Well
Rest assured most people who have put on a VR headset in the comfort of their own home have experimented with viewing adult content online. That is anything but surprising, as there is a decent catalog of content available. Moreover, every time a new consumer-grade technology comes to market, people will see how well it handles adult content. That is nothing surprising, and nothing to be ashamed of either.
One company active in the adult content sector is very transparent regarding their VR success Pornhub claims they see about half a million VR views every single day. That is an incredibly high amount, although it goes to show porn is quite a prominent use case for virtual reality right now. People often complain about a lack of content, but hardly anyone will ever admit they watch porn while wearing their HMD.
This infographic released by PornHub reveals some interesting information as well. The top search on the platform is for “vr”, whereas “360 cam” and “VR POV” are far less present than one would think. People are still trying to get a feel for what Pornhub offers right now. The platform is home to over 2,600 VR videos, which is quite a significant amount. Rest assured this number will continue to grow over the coming years.
What is even more peculiar is the regions where VR adult content is most popular. Thailand, Hong Kong, and the Philippines make up the top 3. The United States does not even make the top 20, nor does the United Kingdom. In fact, there is only one Western country in the entire top 10, which is Norway. All of these statistics will look very different in a year from now, though, that much is evident.
