Although a release date has not been announced yet, the game looks pretty appealing.

Settlers of Catan is one of those games involving a fair bit of strategy and thinking. It is a perfect addition to the VR catalog for both Oculus Rift and Samsung Gear VR. The game was originally demoed at PAX last week and should come to market in the coming months. An official date has not been announced just yet, though.

The initial implementation of Catan VR will revolve around the core game most people have come to love over the years. Other parts will be added over time, as the developers have big plans to keep improving upon the existing game for quite some time to come. It is unclear what they have planned exactly, as it will heavily rely on how the community responds to the initial version. Implementing the base game rules to VR will be pretty challenging, to say the least.
Moreover, bring such an iconic game to virtual reality serves another purpose. It will serve as an example of how players can learn to appreciate board games through a medium which virtually explains itself. Most of these games have different turns to keep in mind. Visual aids will be of incredible value in this regard, that much is evident. Catan is also a natural choice when it comes to bringing iconic games to virtual reality.
