Gender equation has been a major topic of conversation over the past few months. It now seems virtual reality may only complicate matters further. More specifically, some industry experts are concerned over the introduction of the digisexual race. Once we no longer need human intimacy as we know it, sexual orientation may undergo even bigger changes thanks to VR. An interesting train of thought, albeit it remains to be seen if we need to be concerned at all.
Digisexual Individuals may Already Exist
Some of the recent advancements in the world of technology have raised a lot of questions. That is only normal, as the introduction of robotic sex dolls, VR porn, and 3D adult content have all made their mark on our society these past few years. Mainly the sex dolls are of great concern, although they are only a natural evolution of the plastic sex doll industry. A robotic doll moves and talks like humans do, yet they serve a very specific purpose.
A new report found in the Journal of Sexual and Relationship Therapy talks about the digisexual individual. As the name suggests, this study revolves around immersive virtual sex it is evident virtual reality will play a big role in this regard, especially in the next few years. The researchers are concerned people will orient their sexual identity based on the use of technology. This is not something that needs to be avoided or scrutinized by any means, but it is important to be aware of this trend.
It is safe to assume sexbots will slowly become the new normal in our society. Owners will form intimate connections with their mechanical companions. In a lot of cases, robots will become the de facto mode of sexual experience, which is somewhat controversial. With so many companies focusing on this industry right now, new advancements will be introduced at an accelerated pace. However, it is not just the sex doll industry, which will “create” digisexual people. Virtual reality may also be responsible for this new type of sexual orientation.
More specifically, through virtual reality adoption, the need for human intimacy may start to diminish sooner or later. When that happens, it will only drive more people toward becoming digisexual first and foremost, Again, this is not a problematic development by any means, but one needs to be aware of how things are evolving. An interesting future lies ahead for our society as a whole, that much is evident. How things will turn out in a few years from now, remains to be determined.
