While the VR industry still has its fair share of issues to resolve, there is no denying that this field has witnessed an unprecedented amount of innovation over the past couple of years.
A Closer Look at the Device
Valve, one of the world’s largest game developers, recently revealed their latest test model for the Knuckles EV2 VR controller which allows users to naturally pick up, hold and squeeze objects within a VR environment.
While a shipping date has yet to be announced for the product, Valve did release a host of specifications in relation to the EV2. For starters, Knuckles EV2 comes built-in with a host of force (pressure) and capacitive sensors (touch) that allow users to interact with their consoles and inform them if they are gripping, squeezing or pinching virtual objects at any given time.
Additionally, the device also comes with an integrated strap, thus allowing users to release objects without the controller slipping from their hand. Not only that, it also features a thumbstick and a big trackpad button that contains a force sensor as well.
Some other core aspects of the EV2 include:
- Provides gamers with up to six hours of continuous battery life.
- Requires an hour and a half to charge when using a USB-C cable.
- Features an attractive design that does not strain one’s hands even upon prolonged use.
Final Thoughts
With the VR market steadily gaining a lot of traction over the past couple of months, it is now becoming fairly clear that many companies are viewing this technological domain as the next frontier for scientific innovation.
