Next-Gen VR Headsets Will Only Make Use of a Single USB-C Cable

VirtualLink, a digital consortium that comprises of companies such as AMD, NVIDIA, Oculus, Valve, and Microsoft, recently announced its plans for creating a next-generation of VR headsets that will eliminate the need for different cable wires to connect to a PC.

Instead, the company plans on deploying a single USB-C connection that will take care of all data transfers and native device interactions. This is quite a game-changing move since up until now, users of big-name devices such as the Oculus Rift have always looked towards multiple USBs and HDMI cables for connecting their headsets to their computers.

New Connectivity Features Will Open VR to a New Audience

With the introduction of a single USB-C wire, Virtual Link will effectively cut down on the clutter that most VR enthusiasts have to deal with on a daily basis.

By deploying this new standard, VR technology as a whole can be integrated into smaller devices such as laptops, notebooks, and other similar devices that have the capacity to deliver the required power and data transmission capabilities to support these headsets.

Final Take.

Given the dramatic rise of virtual gaming and affordable VR headsets in recent years, this move makes a lot of sense and can potentially serve to be a gamechanger for VirtualLink in the months ahead
