Google is trying to make a very big impact on the virtual reality industry. Although it may prove to be difficult to do so, making the Daydream View VR headset more affordable is one way to go. For a limited time, Verizon will offer the headset for $29.99 instead of $99. This offer is also accessible by non-Verizon customers, but one must visit their stores to benefit from this deal.
Picking up a Cheap Google Daydream View
One of the main gripes consumers have with VR is how the hardware needed to enter this ecosystem remains rather expensive. There is no cheap VR headset that can offer users the experiences they are looking for. Leave it up to Google to make a big splash, as the technology giant is actively discounting its Daydream View VR headset by nearly 75%. This is a limited time offer and can only be accessed through Verizon stores across the United States.
There are some caveats to take into account. The discount price of $29.99 is only available for the charcoal colored Daydream View. Although that isn’t necessarily a big problem, users who want a fog or coral-colored unit will have to pay the full $99 price. It is still a fairly cheap device at full price, and this discount only makes it even more accessible to people on the fence about entering the virtual reality ecosystem.
Users also need to keep in mind the Google Daydream View only works with very few mobile phones on the market today. Owners of such a supported device can take advantage of this cheap VR headset offer by Verizon. It is not necessarily worth it to buy a supported phone to get the headset cheaper, as that would be rather counterproductive. Since these phones are pretty expensive, it doesn’t make for a smart VR investment.
Users who want to take advantage of this deal will need to visit a Verizon store near them. It is unclear how long this promotion will run, but rest assured supplies may not be plentiful, all things considered. Even Non-Verizon customers can take advantage of this deal, which is a nice touch. Google is taking another step toward getting more people excited about VR, although this discount is only a small step toward achieving that goal.
