A lot of new and exciting opportunities arise when looking into VR technology. Aberdeen airport is currently in the process of testing a new application using virtual reality technology. The goal is to make it easier for customers with disabilities to travel around the location. For now, the app is being tested by a small sample group.

Aberdeen Airport and Virtual Reality

Accessing specific locations is never a big problem as long as one is healthy and able. For people dealing with disabilities, however, the situation is often very different. A lot of premises are not easily accessible for wheelchairs, among other things. For people dealing with sensory difficulties, things are even worse. Identifying these problems and coming up with relative solutions can be a relatively big challenge in this day and age.

Aberdeen Airport has a unique solution to deal with these problems. Officials are experimenting with a VR app to find solutions to help people suffering from sensory disabilities to navigate safely through the airport itself. Although the app will be used through a VR headset, it is an option well worth looking into.

Users can decrease noise levels and numbers of people around them as they go through the airport travel process. This same experience can apply to shopping centers and other highly populated areas as well. At this stage, the application is in the final stages of development. Further testing is needed prior to officially commercializing this solution.

More specifically, a group of 70 volunteers with hidden disabilities is invited to test this VR application. Gauging valuable feedback is of the utmost importance in this regard. Participants can use their own mobile phone, whereas the Aberdeen airport will provide the VR hardware required. It is a very positive venture for both the location, as well as the VR industry as a whole.
