The battle for market dominance in the VR headset industry is heating up a bit. Most people are eager to see what the Oculus Quest will offer. HTC is also looking to expand the Vive Focus’ market share in the US and Europe. There is also the Shadow VR, a new headset which seemingly holds a lot of promise.

The Shadow VR Headset Sounds Promising

Although not too many people are aware of Shadow Creator, the company is effectively building a powerful headset. It even comes with in-house developed 6DoF controllers, which makes it a very strong contender compared to other units. Under the hood, it uses a Snapdragon 835 CPU and a resolution of 2.560 x 1.440 pixels.

The comparisons with the HTC Vive Pro are difficult to ignore at this time. Both on the hardware and concept side, both units are eerily similar to one another. A bit of competition has never hurt anyone by any means, although it seems plausible to assume the Shadow VR will have a few other key selling points to look out for. Exact specifications have not been shared with the public at this time.

The company has indicated this unit will be introduced to consumers come November 11th. That means this mystery unit will come to market in two days from now without its specifics being known tot he public. A very interesting marketing stunt, although it remains to be seen if that will affect sales in a negative manner.

Pricing-wise, the unit will be sold for a price of $399. It is not the cheapest virtual reality headset on the market by any means, but it is not exactly a “big purchase either. This unit will make use of HTC’s Android-oriented VR platform known as Vive Wave. That in itself can become a major selling point, assuming there is a demand for such devices in the first place.
