A lot of people are still on the fence on whether or not they should buy a VR headset right now. While there are many different reasons to do so -or not – Oculus is making things quite interesting. The company has slashed all of its hardware prices by quite a margin. One can now pick up an Oculus bundle for under US$500. Considering how prices were close to US$849 not too long ago, this is a major deal to take advantage of.

Buying a cheap VR headset is not always that easy. More specifically, there are many different cheap VR headsets in existence. However, they do not even come close to providing a proper experience such as what one gets from an Oculus Rift. Then again, not everyone wants to pay close to US$850 for a VR headset they may not use more than a few times.

Massive Oculus Rift Sale During The Summer

This is why Oculus has come up with a massive Summer Sale project. By slashing the prices of VR hardware by nearly 35%, they hope to make more people excited about virtual reality. For the price of US$499, customers get a bundle including the headset, two Touch controllers, seven games, and an Xbox One controller. It is everything one needs to get started. Do keep in mind you will need a lot of space to make proper use of the Oculus Rift, though.

The games include popular titles such as Medium, Quill, Robo Recall, and Dead and Buried. It is more than enough to get people started, to say the least. Considering how this offer lasts for about six weeks, there is some time to make a purchase. However, waiting too long could see people miss out on of the best VR bargains 2017 has seen so far. Even though the Rift is out for over a year now, it is still one of the best VR headsets in existence.

One could argue Oculus is taking such an aggressive stance due to disappointing sales. It is possible that is one of the reasons behind this initiative. PlayStation and Samsung are the only companies with over 1 million units sold so far. Oculus and HTC are well behind in this regard.  Lowering the bundle price by such a degree will certainly improve sales, assuming people are willing to part with their money.
