It is evident sports teams stand to gain a lot from virtual reality technology. Quite a few franchises are already working on solutions to make players train better and improve their overall skill level. It turns out football club Juventus FC also has its own VR app, although they focus on different things. More specifically, the app is a fan service to let viewers experience the club’s “world” in a 360-degree fashion.
The Juventus VR App is now Live
One thing the virtual industry needs more of is different types of content. While people have shown an appreciation for watching sports in virtual reality, a lot of people would like to visit local stadiums as well. That is much easier said than done, mind you, as traveling to all of these locations is not necessarily easy by any means. Coming up with an experience that rivals the real deal is an opportunity worth exploring.
Juventus, one of the most popular football teams in Europe, has done exactly that. More specifically, the team has introduced a new VR app which will provide fans with a full 360-degree experience. Additionally, there are four episodes to be enjoyed from within the app. There is a lot of content to enjoy, ranging from a mass-day experience of going behind the scenes at training. Definitely something for Juventus FC fans to check out.
Juventus Marketing Head Federico Palomba comments as follows:
“The potential [for VR] is enormous for a club like Juventus, where 80 percent of our 50 million followers on digital platforms live outside Italy. Not all of these people are able to travel here for matches, so with this virtual reality app, we are breaking down geographical barriers in order to bring them closer to the club without having to physically be here.”
Although it is impossible to replace the real thing with virtual reality, fan services such as these can go a long way. It is not necessarily an app people would think of as a catalyst to buy a VR headset, mind you. However, no one can deny the VR industry is getting a lot of support from the sports sector in general. Although these are still the early stages, the response by sports teams should not be overlooked by any means.
