Steven Spielberg has always been a rather remarkable individual. In a recent interview with Kyodo, Spielberg claims he played Mario in VR. While that may not sound implausible, he did so on the PlayStation VR. A very peculiar statement, although it is possible he is mixing things up a bit on purpose.
Steven Spielberg Shocks the World
There are many explanations as to what is going on exactly with Spielberg’s comments. It is certainly possible he played a version of Mario in virtual reality, yet simply miscommunicated the platform. Another option is how he may have played a platforming game on the PlayStation VR, albeit it is not a title officially published just yet.
Speculation is running wild as to what is going on. A collaboration between Nintendo and PlayStation appears virtually impossible. Stranger things have happened when it comes to gaming, although Nintendo has not made any major announcement regarding VR gaming so far. A collaboration between these two giants would certainly be something to behold.
Regardless of what the truth is, the important takeaway is how Spielberg seemingly enjoyed his VR experience. More specifically, he sees smitten by the PlayStation VR ecosystem. That in itself is no real surprise either, as PlayStation VR is the market leader when it comes to non-mobile VR headsets right now.
In the long run, there will be other noteworthy VR developments to pay attention to. How this will all pan out, is anybody’s guess at this point. Steven Spielberg is a very peculiar figure when it comes to the movie industry, and now VR as well. Perhaps we may someday see a Mario-like game for the PlayStation VR. Only time will tell what the future holds.
