Recently, the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) concluded its yearly convention. As usual, major announcements from Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft grabbed the attention of audiences worldwide at the largest video game expo of the year. However, this year was also significant for its massive VR announcements woven throughout. Here are the three VR games presented at E3 we are looking forward to most.
3. Ghost Giant (Play Station VR)
Ghost Giant was perhaps the cutest VR title unveiled at E3. In Ghost Giant, players take the role of a benevolent ghost companion to keep a lonely boy, Louis company. In this puzzle game, the player interacts with trees, furniture, and miscellaneous objects to help Louis through each puzzle.
Ghost Giant looks absolutely gorgeous, and seems to present itself as a calm, adorable title for players looking to relax and enjoy a heartfelt story. Ghost Giant will be available on Play Station VR. Unfortunately, the release date is not yet set, but it is predicted that this puzzle experience will release at some time in 2019.
2. Tetris Effect (Play Station VR)
Tetris is a timeless classic that kids and adults alike are beckoned back to time and time again. Tetris Effect is the newest spin on an ageless masterpiece. Named after the phenomenon of Tetris players being visited by images of Tetrimino blocks falling on their journey to sleep, Tetris Effect utilizes VR in becoming a completely immersive manifestation of the “Tetris Effect”.
By renowned developer Tetsuya Mizuguchi, Tetris Effect appears as a piece of art in all forms. The visuals of the game are gorgeous. The music is equally appealing. Most importantly, the VR nature enables Tetris Effect as a mesmerizing, full-body experience. Like Ghost Giant, Tetris Effect will be a new addition for Play Station VR. The game is slated to release some time in Fall of this year.
1. Stormland (Occulus Rift)
VR enthusiasts are suggesting that Stormland could be the game to redefine Virtual Reality gaming. Developed by Insomniac Games, the powerhouse studio responsible for Spyro and Rachet & Clank, Stormland has potential to be the most epic VR game ever released. From a purely gameplay standpoint, Stormland looks beautiful and certainly impressive. Combined with the immersive VR nature of the title, Stormland could be monumental.
Stormland is an open world adventure that takes place on a torn, android-inhabited world. The player takes on the role of a battered android that survived The Tempest, a storm of robots that ravaged the world and the android population. Throughout the game, the player works to augment his character and reunite his friends against the enemy. Insomniac has not given a release date for Stormland, but it is expected to release on Occulus Rift some time in 2019.
