Yearn Finance developer @Bantg on X platfrom (formerly twitter) discovered that almost 2,000 accounts of Starknet airdrop participants have disappeared from the list.

Starknet is preparing to launch

@Bantg reported that about 2,000 addresses eligible to receive the long-awaited token have either changed the name of their accounts or deleted them completely since the snapshot appeared.

went through all starknet airdropees and found 1854 people who have either renamed or deleted their account since the activity snapshot.

around half of the names are squatted, but squatters stand no chance. i will personally ensure you steal zero coins from the real devs.

— banteg (@bantg) February 15, 2024

Airdrop hunters use scripts to then combine many different addresses into one. Thus, in March 2023, it turned out that 1,496 wallets of such a hunter received Arbitrum (ARB) tokens worth $3.38 million to just 2 addresses.

The developer claims that 1,175 of the supposed 1,854 renamed accounts have identical historical GitHub IDs. Excluding these accounts from the snapshot will reduce the number of wallets eligible for the airdrop by 701,544.

The project will distribute 10 billion STRK tokens

Starknet’s public launch is scheduled for February 20th. Only wallets that have used the network more than five times over three months or more and have made transactions of at least $100 before the end of 2023 will be eligible to participate in the STRK airdrop.

Currently, 10 billion Starknet tokens have been minted and will be distributed to investors, employees, developers, community and end users in September 2024.

Starknet Airdrop is One amidst Several

Eminently, the Starknet Foundation recognizes this latent network rebates initiative as a milestone, particularly towards valuing and enabling its user base. Furthermore, 50 million STRK were allocated to pursue “direct, indirect, and retrospective incentivization of activity on DeFi protocols by enhancing liquidity, volume traded, and overall growth of the DeFi landscape on Starknet.”

The DeFi initiative is approaching the conclusion of its research phase and is aiming to transition into execution and deployment by the conclusion of 2024. Starknet Foundation still has more occasions up its sleeve, which it intends to disclose by the following week. This encompasses an inventive new incentive mechanism for developers and decentralized applications (dapps) operating on the network.

Eminently, numerous other protocols have embraced the practice of rewarding their steadfast users. The Solana-based DeFi platform Jito Network introduced its governance token, JTO, which was dispersed as an airdrop to empower users.

Similarly, TRON founder Justin Sun also declared an airdrop for users of HTX and Poloniex following the recent cybersecurity breaches reported on both platforms.
