Slowly but surely, VR arcades are popping up all over the world. Alaska is not necessarily a place where one would expect to find such a value. Residents of Fairbanks can now enjoy a proper virtual reality experience without buying the equipment itself. It is a big step forward for the industry as a whole. Arctic Sun Virtual Reality is a venue well worth checking out if you ever find yourself in or near Fairbanks, Alaska.

A VR Arcade in Alaska

It is always good to see more entrepreneurs focus on the virtual reality ecosystem. Although this industry is still in its infancy, consumers are more than willing to check out what VR has to offer. Given the high price of proper VR headsets these days, an arcade is a great place to hopefully score brownie points with the general public. Over in Alaska, such an arcade can be found in Fairbanks.

Although one wouldn’t necessarily think of the building as an arcade, never judge a book by its cover. Arctic Sun VR is home to a total of four HTC Vive setups, with one of them being reserved off-site events. Visitors can also lounge on the couches and see other players playing in virtual reality. It is a very friendly environment for both newcomers and VR veterans alike.

Gaming sessions are priced rather competitively. For the price of $30, you can spend about 60 minutes within one of the virtual reality bays. There’s also a premium option, with a larger environment to play in and a slightly larger selection of games. It’s good to see arcades like this one cater to very different types of players. With around 60 programs to choose from, there is a little something for everyone to enjoy.

It is somewhat surprising to learn the entire state of Alaska only has one of these VR arcades right now. It is evident that situation will most likely change in the very near future. At the same time, purchasing the headsets and necessary computer hardware to power everything is quite a steep upfront investment. There’s a lot of good money to be made by providing this type of technology to consumers for a fair price, that much is certain.
