Hurl VR Review – One of the Better Physics Puzzling Games

Owners of the HTC Vive VR headset have plenty of games to choose from these days. Not all of these offerings are great by any means, but most of them are just fine. Hurl VR is one of those physics-based puzzlers who remind people why gaming in VR can be a great experience overall. The game itself focuses on puzzling at every point along the way and makes for a great experience. Unfortunately, it is yet another game that will be over before you even realize it.

Hurl VR is fun While it Lasts, Which Isn’t Long

In a way, it is good to see a VR game which fully focuses on puzzling and sports, to a certain degree. Your goal as a player is to ensure the ball makes its way to the goal. While that sounds easy, it certainly isn’t once you fire up the game. In fact, you have some additional features and objects which need to be manipulated in a particular pattern. More specifically, you need to hit all of the blue panels prior to scoring the goal. A fun objective which does require a bit of thinking and strategy to complete successfully.

At the same there, there will be a few objects along the way which aim to hinder your progress. Yellow tiles, for example, are capable of launching balls in odd directions. Wormholes can take your ball away and drop it somewhere else entirely. It is all about figuring out the best way to move the ball from your starting point to the goal and do so as efficiently as possible. Physics-based puzzle games are incredibly fun and Hurl VR certainly competes with the best in this regard.

The main reason this title launched for the HTC Vive is due to the room scale aspect. Anyone who can move around freely while donning a VR headset will be able to push the ball at just the right angle, which makes the game slightly easier. It is not a game designed to be played while sitting down, though, that much is certain. It is a physics game after all and it does require a fair bit of interaction by the user to successfully complete levels. All things considered, it makes for an incredibly fun experience, for as long as the game lasts.

Although you need to clear several levels in Hurl VR, the game is still incredibly short. While there is a difficult curve to stretch the play time overall, it only takes a few hours to get through it. Right now, there are about 30 levels but there is no reason to play them again once completed. A fun game for owners of the HTC Vive, but it certainly could use some more content or game modes.
