Virtual reality dating makes very little sense to the average person on the street. EVR Studio, the developers of ProjectM: Daydream feel very different about this fact, to say the very least. The Korean VR dating experience should not be taken lightly, although it is not necessarily something that makes most people feel at ease. It is a very interesting concept, though, to say the very least. The app is available for HTC Vive and Oculus Rift as we speak.
ProjectM: Daydream is a Different Kind of VR Experience
It is the first time we effectively decided to check out a Korean VR dating experience. Although this concept doesn’t necessarily appeal to us in any major way, there are reasons to believe others may see the benefit of such applications. After all, we live in an era where online dating is the new normal, thus VR dating certainly has a chance to succeed a swell given enough time.
Do keep in mind this is not a traditional game or app by any means. It is designed to get the hang of VR dating by putting “players” in the role of a school-age Korean male. Together with your love interest, you will enjoy a small meal and talk about small things. There is nothing erotic about this game other than a small bikini scene. If people can’t even handle that, this experience will certainly not appeal to them in the slightest.
It has to be said, ProjectM: Daydream as some of the more realistic character animations we have seen to date. The developers certainly deserve a round applause in this regard, as they create a very realistic experience. All of the “places” you visit during the conversation with your love interest feel realistic as well, which makes it a rather engaging experience, all things considered. Outdoor scenes, on the other hand, look as if they were added with the last few cents of remaining budget to play around with.
Sadly, the dialogue in ProjectM”: Daydream is not exactly up to par. Every sentence is dull and people will lose interest on more than one occasion. You do need to “say the right things” at times to progress in the game properly, though, but it is nothing major by any means. Moreover, the experience lasts for about 20 minutes, making it rather short. It is a valiant first attempt into VR dating sims, to say the least, but there is still plenty of room for future improvements in this regard.
