With the Christmas holidays upon us, now is a good time to purchase some decent VR games. A-Tech Cybernetic has been in Early Access for some time and recently received some major upgrades to make it more playable. The game is available for the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift and comes at a price of $14.99. It is still in Early Access, but the new patch makes it look far more appealing.

A-Tech Cybernetic is a Decent VR Shooter

As the name of the game somewhat suggests, this game revolves around dealing with robots. Not just any type of robot, mind you, but rather robotic zombies. Your objective is to blast them all to smithereens as quickly as possible. Although the concept of robot zombies might not make much sense, it’s still better than some of the things we have seen in recent Resident Evil movies. That being said, it is a pretty interesting concept that makes the game even more enjoyable.

During the first month of being in Early Access, A-tech Cybernetic had no background story whatsoever. Although that is not unusual, the developers have finally implemented a story mode to the game. While it is nothing we haven’t seen or heard before, it is a more than welcome addition to the overall game. On the gameplay front, you still need to run in circles, collect weapons, kill enemies, and not get eaten. It sounds easy, but the game can get quite hectic now and then.

Moving around in this game will either make or break the experience. Thankfully, the developers let you choose between locomotion and teleportation, both of which work extremely well. Switching between the two almost feels natural, although they do require the use of trackpads. During your gameplay, you will not only collect weapons but also powerups, health pickups, and opening various objects. On the weapons front, you can either go melee or with ranged weapons. Both options feel remarkably satisfying, which is always a good sign.

While robot zombies make A-Tech Cybernetic a very different game compared to others, it’s not exactly “great”. They seem a bit easy to ill and the AI will need further tweaks. At the same time, the game does require a bit of skill to get through it all without facing any major setbacks. It is good to see such a rather polished game still in Early Access as it only gets us more excited about what the future may hold for A-Tech Cybernetic. Definitely worth picking up if you are looking for a great VR shooter.
