The world of virtual reality offers quite a lot of possibilities for game and app developers. Moreover, it can also serve as an educational platform to give people more insight into how certain aspects of our daily work lives. VRinOR is one of those interesting offerings that may not necessarily be for everyone, even though it is quite an intriguing experience.

VRInOR Does Exactly What You’d Expect

For the people who have always wanted to look at the inside of an operating room, VRinOR offers exactly the right experience. Users are given a 360-degree view of an actual operating room, and they are capable of watching an operation of their own choosing as well. This latter option is certainly not for the faint of heart, as you will be able to see everything in detail.

Speaking of operations, the choices are somewhat limited, for obvious reason. No one should expect to see an open heart surgery in VR anytime soon, although it could have its use cases for medical schools. For now, the operations we can watch are quite easy to stomach, including a hip replacement and a tooth implant. It is quite strange to see these operations being performed on someone who is right in front of us – as seen through the VR app – but it’s oddly mesmerizing as well.

In fact, VRinOR kind of makes the spectator feel as if they belong in the operating room, keeping close tabs on the actual staffers performing the operation in question. Regardless of previous medical expertise, there is plenty to learn from watching other people work on a patient.  In fact, the app gives users a diagnostic of the procedure they are about to perform, which is quite impressive.

To make the whole experience a bit more immersive, users are also provided with X-rays highlighting the patient’s ailments. Do not be mistaken in thinking VRinOR is an actual replacement for medical school, but it does the job just fine. The average user may watch both surgeries once and then never use the app again, but that doesn’t make it less valuable as a whole. Creations like these are not designed to be used on a daily basis by any means.
