Owners of the HTC Vive, PlayStation VR, and Oculus Rift should keep a close eye on Rez Infinite. It is one of those games which most people know already. Anyone who ever played a Sega Dreamcast will certainly know Rez. This game is a remake of the decade-old title by adding VR elements to it. The result is incredibly fun to play and is certainly worth whatever price you are paying for it. For a game that is older than some VR users these days, it certainly holds up extremely well.

Rez Infinite is a Must-play for any VR Enthusiast

It doesn’t happen all that often we are very excited about a virtual reality game. That is only normal, as a lot of recent games are somewhat disappointing. Rez Infinite not only brings back childhood memories but it also shows how virtual reality games can evolve over time. There are no flashy environments to look out for, as it is all about engaging gameplay. Granted, the levels received a massive visual upgrade, but it’s not exactly the main selling point of this game either.

For an on-rail shooter, the game certainly lends itself well to virtual reality these days. Players can use a wide range of controllers,  including proprietary platform solutions or a regular gamepad. Head movements can also be used for controlling the interface, giving players plenty of options. Once you start playing, the one thing Rez Infinite does well is syncing visuals and music. Most of the attacks you will face come at you from the front anyway, although you may find yourself maneuvering from side to side on a regular basis as well.

In fact, we would go as far as saying how Rez Infinite makes VR technology look phenomenal. This is done, thanks to its Area X feature, which grants players free roaming areas to play in. Turning around in the game relies solely on head movements in this regard, whereas other gestures are controller-based. This is an experimental level at best, but it’s incredibly fun to play. More importantly, it doesn’t even generate simulator sickness either. Area X is a mesmerizing experience that will keep players coming back for more over time.

Rez Infinite is a short game, on paper. However, it shouldn’t be discounted based on that fact alone. It is almost a Resogun for virtual reality, albeit from a different perspective. We had a blast playing it and replaying it, especially the Area X part. Owners of the PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift and HTC Vive should certainly give this game a try. It is one of the best experiences we have had to date and it will be incredibly challenging to surpass it in terms of fun and excitement.
