Escape rooms have become a popular team building exercise in recent years. The concept of having to escape a room by just using your wits and various objects is quite enjoyable. It is only normal we see such experiences in virtual reality as well. Nevrosa: Escape offers a good blend of an escape room experience with puzzles and pretty good graphics. The game is available for the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive at a price of $19.99.
Nevrosa: Escape is an Enjoyable and Exhilarating Experience
Although we weren’t quite sure what to expect from Nevrosa: Escape, it is safe to say the developers successfully surprised us in a positive way. The goal is all about the escape room experience, but it won’t be easy to reach your goal whatsoever. Along the way, you will encounter a variety of puzzles, some of which prove to be quite difficult. Thankfully, the game doesn’t get frustrating at any point, but you will have to keep your wits about you if you want to complete the objective.
As one would expect from a proper VR escape room experience, there is a sense of dread in every shadow and corner. It almost feels as if a raving lunatic killer will eviscerate you at any moment, which makes this game even more interesting. In the game, you are trapped inside your grandfather’s laboratory. Escaping this unholy place will not come easy, as it turns out your ancestor was involved in some very disgusting things. One thing that becomes evident immediately is how the developers spared no expense to make the game look visually impressive. It only adds to the overall experience and ups the ante even further.
Moving around in Nevrosa: Escape is pretty interesting as well. You can see all of the portions of the lab, but you can’t access everything from the get-go. Instead, you need to fully explore everything – and have the room at home to play this game properly – which makes for a great experience overall. The storyline further progresses as you solve more puzzles and explore new sections of the laboratory. All in all, it is a very gripping experience that had our hearts racing on more than one occasion.
If there is one flaw about Nevrosa: Escape we have to point out, it is the collision detection. It seems to work fine most of the time, but there are some moments when it almost feels as if the game is opposing you simply because it can. It is something the developers will hopefully address in a future patch. Assuming they do so, there is no reason to pick up this game whatsoever. It is an ode to the escape room concept, Moreover, it offers a few hours of gameplay, which is far more than 90% of the VR games available today.
