Manufacturers are starting to wonder how they can get more people interested in VR hardware. That will not be an easy feat by any means. The steep price and glaring lack of content are quite problematic when it comes to warranting steep prices. One possible solution comes in the form of letting consumers try out VR at official hubs.
Try Before You Buy and VR
On paper, it makes a lot of sense to let potential customers try out VR hardware before they buy it. After all, one can do the same with any other type of hardware, including computers, tablets, and smartphones. VR Headsets, on the other hand, can often be found at stand to pick up, but experiencing VR is something else entirely. It is an interesting opportunity to pursue, albeit not one that will automatically result in more sales.
It would be interesting to see more official VR hubs all over the world. Making this expensive hardware accessible to consumers all over the world may seem like a steep challenge, though. Moreover, there are some logistical issues that need to be taken account. The biggest challenge si how sing a VR headset will often make wearers sweat a lot, and cleaning the headband in between customers is an absolute most in this regard.
Unfortunately, this makes it rather difficult to offer a proper trial period of VR hardware to consumers. Having people wait in a line will not do anyone any favors whatsoever. The alternative would be to have dozens of places with VR headset sin one or two store sin every city. It is a costly investment that will require a fair bit of maintenance, though.
One potential solution comes in the form of so-called VR arcades. Similar to regular arcades, these locations would provide gaming experiences. However, everything would take place in virtual reality. Granted, it will still require a lot of maintenance and investment capital to set up such a business. However, a lot of consumers may be willing to spend a few bucks on experimenting with VR for 30 minutes. It is an intriguing business proposal to think about.
