When it comes to gaming in VR, there are a lot of different ventures worth exploring. With the technology slowly maturing the existing offerings should also continue to improve. Operation Warcade is a full arcade game in a virtual space, and it works pretty well. Owners of the PlayStation VR can purchase this game for $19.99.

Operation Warcade Scratches an Itch

Even though we have seen arcade games being ported to VR, most of them feel off in different ways. Operation Warcade gives us a completely different feeling, and one we thoroughly enjoy. It supports three controller methods, which we can only applaud.

Additionally, it is possible – and advised – to throw grenades at your enemies. These enemies pop up on the left and right side of the screen. You can duck behind cover, which is a nice touch. The choice between immersive and classic mode is pretty interesting as well, as both seem to work pretty well.

We do like the immersion mode a bit more since you will be put right in the action. The gameplay is quite fluid, as there are a lot of enemies to get through. There are even scenes with a mounted machine gun, shooting from a helicopter, and so forth. With six stages – each having 6 levels and 3 stars – there is plenty of content to be enjoyed.

While the visual may be a bit subpar, it is evident there is not much else to complain about. We have played Operation Warcade for several hours and still enjoy the overall gameplay. Having With various weapons to pick from along the way, there is a lot of fun to be had. The price is more than warranted for this game, which makes it a rarity in this regard.
