SUPERHYPERCUBE Review – Tetris on Acid in Virtual Reality

Although a VR game such as SUPERHYPERCUBE doesn’t excite us by looking at a trailer, it is always worth giving the game a try. Most gamers will see immediate parallels with Tetris, although it is not exactly the same. After playing the game for a few hours, we can honestly say this game is far more addictive than originally expected. SUPERHYPERCUBE is available for the Oculus Rift and PlayStation VR for the price of $14.99.

SUPERHYPERCUBE is Engaging and Plenty of Fun

Fans who like puzzler games a la Tetris will have a great time playing SUPERHYPERCUBE in virtual reality. Although it almost feels like taking an acid trip now and then, it is also what makes this particular game so charming, to begin with. Your objective is to match a cube shape with the hole in the wall that lies right in front of you. While this may sound easy at first, the end result would surprise a lot of people.

During the first handful of levels, it is a matter of using a singular cube and putting it through the hole at the right angle. However, do not be mistaken in thinking SUPERHYPERCUBE is a game for children, as the difficulty ramps up pretty quickly. It will take a few dozen levels before most people will actually face real issues, though. Keeping a game like this approachable by players of all ages was a big priority for the developers. They have done a good job, even though it must have been quite challenging to do so.

The game itself needs to be played with the Oculus Touch controllers, which may take some getting used to. After a few minutes, most people will quickly get the hang of SUPERHYPERCUBE and complete levels at an accelerating pace. Rotating and twisting the mass of cubes becomes pretty intuitive as you progress further. Make sure to use your special abilities as well, of which there are three to choose from. SUPERHYPERCUBE has a good mix of skill, speed, and tactics, despite being a rather simple game concept.

All things considered, SUPERHYPERCUBE is one of the most fun games we have played to date. For this particular genre, the lack of story doesn’t matter in the slightest. Its gameplay is incredibly addictive and always pushes you to do better in your next attempt. With 100 walls to get through, there is enough challenge to keep players engaged for a few weeks. SUPERHYPERCUBE is well worth picking up if you want to have a good time while playing VR games.
