Playing like a frog in VR is not necessarily something one would expect to do right away. To The Tp is a virtual reality game which makes this concept quite enjoyable in its own way. The game is not perfect by any means, but the overall experience is more than enjoyable. One downside is how the graphics could use a bit of work, but they aren’t exactly horrible either by any means. This game is available for both HTC Vive and Oculus Rift.

To The Top is a lot More fun Than Expected

We thoroughly enjoy a game which requires us to move around. Unfortunately, very few games seem to do this rather well. Some games even remove all locomotion options from the table altogether. To The Top is one of those rare gems which relies on properly allowing players to move around. In fact, it is an example for the rest of the VR industry in this regard. Nearly flying to levels and moving at a fast pace feels as great as it sounds, that much is evident.

Additionally, the developers took the time to create a game world in which levels look different from one another. Not all games do this these days, as we have seen quite a few recent games where levels look identical to one another other than moving certain objects to different locations. It’s not easy to create a polished game, but for  a VR experience which usually lasts 2 hours or less, one would expect some variation. To The Top once again does this rather well, and we commend the developers for their efforts.

As said before, the momentum in this game is done extremely well. Jump pads feel like you are jumping, whereas moving from point to point effectively mimics the action one would expect to perform. The Jetpack level will be a fan favorite among most players, to say the least. There are always multiple routes to reach your target and a few hidden challenges to add more playing time to the game. Especially this latter part is worth noting as it increases the replay value of this game.

Platforming games in VR have a bright future ahead if they are all at the same level of To The Top. Whether or not that will be the case, remains to be seen, though. This game certainly shows all other developers how things can be done in a way that is extremely enjoyable for the players.Mixing up the platforming with challenges and hidden gems to unlock only makes it even better. Getting good at this game requires a fair bit of practice, but it’s one challenge we won’t back down from.
