FORM Review – A Brilliant Puzzle Game From Beginning to end

Slowly but surely we find more puzzle games in the virtual reality sector. FORM is one those games which is available on the HTC Viva, with Oculus Rift support coming soon as well. It is a very interesting game, which revolves around solving a mystery and using superhuman powers to do so. The environments are pretty nice, but incredibly bizarre at best. By far one of the more mesmerizing games to date, although not without minor flaws.

FORM is a Great Puzzle Game

It does not happen all that often VR games leave a lasting impression on the player. FORM is certainly more than capable of doing so. It is a visual and an audible journey from beginning to end and the developers deserve to marks for their efforts in this regard. The gameplay itself is also extremely fun and challenging. The puzzles make a lot of sense and slowly help you discover more about the world around you.

After all, your mission is to solve the mystery surrounding a recently discovered alien artifact. It doesn’t become overly sci-fi during the gameplay itself, but the entire setting of FORM is certainly out of this world, or so it seems. One thing to take into account is how this game gently guides you toward thoroughly exploring your environment and the tools at your disposal at all times. Despite all of the good aspects, the game is only about an hour long, which is a bit of a shame.

Despite the short play time, FORM seems to last a lot longer than it really does. It is not something that will make you lose track of time entirely, but the game is so gripping it seems as if you spent half a day playing it. That is a good thing, as we certainly wish more game developers would be capable of such a feat.It is always better to have quality over quantity. FORM has nothing that feels repetitive, boring, or out of place. It even warrants a second or third playthrough to ensure you haven’t missed anything worth checking out.

The great audio track feels perfect while you progress through the story and come across the protagonist’s memories and thoughts. This also provides you with a bit more of the background story, which isn’t unique by any means, but still well executed. If the game was a bit longer, it would perhaps receive full marks from our end. For now, it gets a solid 4.5 stars out of 5 on all fronts, as it really is that good of a game. We can’t wait to see what Charm Games comes up with next.
