Owners of an HTC Vive VR headset may want to take a closer look at Hover Junkers. This particular virtual reality game has a lot to offer, even though it comes with a steep price tag. This game is a fine example of what can be achieved by fully embracing virtual reality technology. Even though it feels a bit unpolished at times, Hover Junkers is a game certainly worth checking out.

We Absolutely Love Hover Junkers

First-person shooters are not that hard to come by in the virtual reality world right now. Finding a game that is as fun to play as Hover Junkers is something else entirely, though. The game offers an amazing experience to both novice and experienced VR users alike. There is also a very strong focus on multiplayer gaming, with a deathmatch and team deathmatch mode.

This also brings us to the one downside we discovered while playing this game: multiplayer opponents can be hard to come by. Even though Hover Junkers has been around for about a year now, the online community remains relatively small. If you have friends to play with, this becomes much less of an issue right away. This may also explain why there are so few multiplayer VR games right now, as gaining traction seems to be a bit of a struggle.

Back to the good stuff, as Hover Junkers provides plenty of fun to be had. The gaming experience itself can best be described as “fast-paced and utterly frantic”, which is something we really like.  The post-apocalyptic setting is extremely well done, even though the graphics are not as polished as some gamers may like. The objective is to collect junk and transport the goods as quickly as possible. Competing against others makes this is a lot more difficult than most people may think, though.

Shooting is an important aspect of an FPS, and Hover Junkers does the job just right. Additionally, enemies have a habit of sneaking up on you, which is both exhilarating and frustrating, but in a good way. Despite the frantic pace, there is no simulator sickness to speak of, which is good to see. It is also one of those games that will make the players sweat over time, which makes it a healthy game to play too. All things considered, Hover Junkers is well worth the money, assuming you can find people to play with.
